Beautiful Maasai Beadwork

Maasai women have a long tradition of producing beautiful and intricate beaded jewelry to adorn themselves and their families. We assist them in adapting their handi-crafts to be more appealing to local and overseas markets by slightly altering traditional designs. Kiretono Resource Organization provides the women with all the tools and supplies they need. Previously, the women made their own thread by twisting together multiple strands of plastic ply from flour sacks. Now, because the women use beading wire supplied by KRO, they can spend their time producing finished items for which they are paid. Revenues generated from selling these beautiful beaded products go back into the organization to sustain and expand the program and to help sponsors pastoralist girls' education.
